What is Carbon Browser?

Carbon Browser is an open-source and secure browser developed by Carbon Browser X Labs. Using the powerful Blink Engine, the browser was built as an updated extension of the Chromium browser framework. The carbon browser is dedicated to ensuring the utmost privacy of its users, featuring a powerful in-built ad blocker and website tracker.

The project focused on three significant elements during its development: fast browsing, a small file size, and good user experience. Most Web3 innovations typically happen with blockchains and dApps, so most enthusiasts need to use Web2-based browsers and extensions to interact with it. As a Web3 project, the browser is built to support the entire Web3 experience, and it comes with a multichain wallet to help users store their digital assets.

The development of Carbon Browser is set to solve three main issues facing browsers today. At the top of the list is the lack of privacy and decentralization of browsers. The others include a need for standard Web3 features and an inferior adblocker/filtering solution.

History of Carbon Browser

Carbon Browser was founded in 2013 as “Super Fast Browser.” Its developers are mostly pseudonymous, but they are said to have working experience with tech giants like Google, Microsoft, Mozilla, and Dell.

The Carbon Browser project was developed in collaboration with Binance, Curate, and Poolz Ventures, and the application has achieved over 7 million downloads since its launch. While the application is currently available only in the Android version, the browser’s iOS and PC versions will be released later.

In addition, the browser has over 200,000 installations in five major regions: the United States, the United Kingdom, Germany, India, and Turkey, with up to 61,000 daily active users. They can also use rewards to access the browser’s premium version, Carbon Browser Pro.

How Does Carbon Browser Work?

Carbon Browser uses a decentralized virtual private network (dVPN) to encrypt and reroute traffic through a network of peer-to-peer nodes. This technology ensures that third parties cannot track or censor users visiting any website. In addition, Carbon uses a firewall and ToR end-to-end encryption (e2ee) to increase security and privacy.

The project also plans to roll out many features for its Web3-based users. The browser will equip an integrated wallet to store cryptocurrencies and feature a swap and bridge. The browser will also host different Web3 applications like exchanges, NFT marketplaces, and access to decentralized platforms. These features will work with its Browse2Earn feature, which is designed to reward users for their browsing activity.

As a customized fork of the Chromium browser framework and built on the Blink engine, Carbon Browser is able to reach insane speeds. It loads web pages three times faster than other Chromium web browsers like Chrome, Brave, and Opera while helping users save up to 95% of their data. Carbon also partnered with Adblock pioneer Eyeo to create a custom adblocking feature.

Carbon Browser also enables users to exchange and store crypto assets using an integrated blockchain bridge and built-in crypto wallet.

Key Features of Carbon Browser

Carbon Browser offers a plethora of features for its users. Some of these features include the following.

Integrated Multi-chain Wallet

Multi-chain wallets are dynamic wallets designed to store various types of tokens and digital assets from blockchains and house them all in one place. They eliminate the need for multiple wallets by integrating support for different blockchain protocols. The Carbon Browser mobile app has a crypto wallet where users can keep and transfer their crypto assets over networks like Ethereum, Binance, and Polygon.

Carbon Browser offers built-in support for different dApps spanning different categories from DeFi to NFTs. This grants users private and unrestricted access to dApps directly from their browsers. Carbon Browser also partnered with LDX.Fi to provide native atomic swaps and cross-chain swaps for users who don’t want to use external dApps. Using LDX’s cross-chain technology, users can easily bridge their assets across different networks through Carbon Browser. Carbon and LDX also plan to partner with more swap providers, offering its users the best prices when using LDX.

The multi-chain wallet also provides access to decentralized naming services like ENS, allowing users to replace lengthy and complex wallet addresses with human-readable names, simplifying transactions and adding convenience. The wallet also supports NFTs and is equipped with an NFT gallery.

Browse2Earn

Browse2Earn is an innovative feature from Carbon Browser designed to incentivize users to use the Carbon Browser, as they earn CSIX tokens simply by browsing the web. These tokens can be exchanged for fiat money or other cryptocurrencies and used on the websites of any of Carbon Browser’s partners. Partners include Amazon, eBay, and other charities.

The project uses a unique algorithm that automatically adjusts according to demand and supply to distribute rewards.

The Carbon Browser ecosystem funds rewards through profits generated from sponsored integrations and partnerships. This is because Carbon Browser is particular about the security and privacy of users and, as such, does not sell user data.

Carbon AdX Marketplace

The Carbon AdX Marketplace was developed to meet the needs of the more acceptable advertisers. The project generally frowns on bombarding users with invasive and unnecessary ads. However, recognizing the need for beneficial ads, Carbon developed its self-serving ad marketplace where advertisers and publishers can buy and sell ads directly. Businesses must adhere to the acceptable ads policy to ensure that the ads shown to users are helpful and non-intrusive. This service is available for both users and non-users of Carbon.

Carbon Browser Pro

This is the premium version of the Carbon Browser. It offers enhanced privacy and support for the more experienced users, for example, increased filtering of trackers and ads. This version also provides 24/7 support, and users can also earn more CSIX with the Browse2Earn feature.

Carbon Browser vs. Other Competitors

Carbon Browser stands out as a fast and decentralized web3 browser, offering users total privacy and an integrated multichain wallet. It is currently hosted on Binance, and the browser has gained a lot of followers, gathering up to 334 thousand followers on Twitter and 66 thousand followers on Telegram. However, it shares the web3 browser space with various competitors.

Chainlink

Chainlink provides a decentralized and secure link between blockchain technology and the real world. It offers a network of independent nodes guarantees data integrity, while strict security procedures ensure everything remains tightly controlled. Chainlink also features a flexible framework and pre-built connectors, making it easier to connect to different off-chain data sources. It also offers reliable tamper-proof inputs and outputs for smart contracts across various blockchains, including Arbitrum, Avalanche, and Binance.

Chainlink’s constant innovation is fueled by an active community, amassing over 1 million followers on Twitter and 23 thousand followers on Telegram.

Kujira Orca

Kujira Orca is another formidable competitor. The project provides a decentralized ecosystem for Web3 enthusiasts. It is built on the Solana blockchain and offers a unique combination of liquidity, cost-effectiveness, and features that cater to new and expert traders.

It supports various blockchains, including Avalanche, Ethereum, Cosmos, Evmos, and Comdex. Kujira Orca has amassed $3,158,372 in total value locked, meaning the total value of assets locked or used for lending within the platform.

Uniswap

Uniswap is a fully decentralized protocol offering automated liquidity provision on Ethereum and supports multiple blockchains, including Arbitrum and Avalanche. It allows users to trade digital assets without needing a centralized authority. The exchange offers seamless swap services, making it easy for users to trade a constantly expanding pool of assets. Users can also become liquidity providers, which helps to meet the demand for assets on the exchange.

Uniswap’s community is incredibly crucial to its success. With 73,000 Reddit users and over a million Twitter followers, Uniswap Labs remains a dominant force in the DeFi space and at the forefront of innnovation.

While each browser offers unique features and strengths, Carbon Browser’s focus on speed, privacy, and multichain capabilities positions it as a top contender in the rapidly evolving web3 landscape.

What is CSIX?

CSIX is the BEP-20 token native to the Carbon Browser ecosystem and developed on the Binance Smart Chain. It offers a host of utilities, including the opportunity to participate in the project’s governance and gain access to Carbon Pro to enjoy cheaper fees when using the in-app swap and bridge. Users can also stake or use their CSIX tokens as discounted currency to buy ad placement on the Carbon Browser. However, they can pay gas fees with tokens other than the native CSIX.

CSIX Tokenomics

The total supply of CSIX is 1 billion tokens. It has a current market cap of $160,000 and a circulating supply of 10 million tokens. Distribution of the token went like this:

  • 8% of the total supply was distributed in a seed round
  • 9% was allocated to public launchpads
  • 1.95% was reserved for the carbon browser team
  • 0.95% was allotted to KOLs
  • 24.1% went to marketing
  • Another 24.1% was allocated to the development of the project
  • 11.3% of the total supply was to be used for staking and rewards
  • Another 11.3% was reserved for liquidity, MM & Listings
  • 6.2% was allotted to the community governance DAO
  • 3% was distributed to the PancakeSwap Syrup Pool and Farm

News on CSIX

Carbon Browser recently announced through a tweet that the CSIX token was listed on the 31st of January, 2024, on CoinDCX.
