Axie Infinity is the most popular NFT game globally, evidenced by its 3 million active monthly players. Also, it became the first NFT game to exceed the $4 billion mark.

Even with its evident pedigree as the top dog in the NFT space, the developers of Axie Infinity have decided to upgrade the game.

The new version is called Axie Infinity Origin, and it is being launched “with a vision to broaden the Axie ecosystem.”

Axie Infinity Origin is an upgraded version of Axie Infinity. It is the latest addition to the Axie Infinity series - the most prominent NFT game in the world.

Axie Infinity Origin is also called Axie Battles V3 and is expected to arrive with modern updates, user interface, improved game mechanics, and graphics to impress their audience.

This version is being developed to be more accessible for a mainstream audience. It comes with three free starter Axies to make it easier for newbies to enter the Axie Infinity space.

According to unconfirmed rumors, the new version was slated for a launch in Q1 2022. There were also reports that the game required additional updates, which would in no small way delay the launch period.

There were rife speculations that there would be an initial rollout for the game for desktop computers via Mavis Hub, and the version for mobiles was touted to come later on.

This process was termed the “Alpha” launch as it was initiated mainly for feedback from the players ahead of the major release in the future. To that end, there would be no AXS rewards during the game.

After Alpha Phase, the next step would be to launch with Season 0 to make further updates based on feedback from the prior launch.

The overall response to the Alpha phase would determine if the current version (Battles v2) would be shut down or if it’d continue running until they finally launch Battles v3.

Axie Battles v3 would be adding new cards that will give the game a more contemporary dimension.

For starters, the cards will possess the eyes and ears of the Axies to be included. In V2, you could only utilize four of the Axies’ skills, but in V3, you can use all six of an Axie’s card.

It will also add runes and charms as power-ups to allow the Axies to improve their gameplay statistics and combat with their total capacity.
In this new version, you can utilize the Axies you own. And it comes with a Sequential Turn option, a unique feature that enables Axies to strike once the cards are played, and it allows you to be more engaging and fully controlling your Axies.

The cards from Axies Battles v2 would be retained for Battles v3, only that they now have specialized roles, i.e., attack or defense, as opposed to both. The cards will be classified under the following labels, Aquatic, Beast, Plant, Bird, Bug, and Reptile.

For each turn, unused Energy and Cards will cease to accumulate by default. Therefore, players will be less inclined to skip turns and choose not to use their Energy / Cards.

Furthermore, V3 would add runes and charms to the mix. They would serve as power-ups to allow the Axies to improve their gameplay statistics and combat with their total capacity.

Many new features would be added to Axies Battle V3. To make the game less overwhelming, these features will get unlocked steadily as you progress through each game stage successfully.
