Today's Headline - Nomad, a GameFi communication protocol, was attacked by hackers, with an estimated loss of approximately $190 million

According to the tweet of Twitter account @0xfoobar, the GameFi communication protocol Nomad has been attacked by hackers. Hackers have stolen 10,000 Ethereum (approximately $16 million) in a recent transaction. There are $80 million of USDCs flowing out of the Nomad token bridge. There is still $126 million in the contract that may be at risk.

The latest DeFi Llama data shows that after the hacker attack, the cryptocurrency worth $190.7 million has been removed from the Nomad token bridge, leaving only $651.54 in the wallet. The TVL (total value locked) of Nomad's funds on August 1 was approximately $190 million.

Nomad is a $22 million seed round financing project led by Polychain, with an investment valuation of $225 million.

Mohamed El-Erian, Dean of Queen's College, University of Cambridge, recently released a comparative data of year to date asset performance compared with the previous two years.

Data show that most asset classes were in a loss state in 2022, with Bitcoin and Nasdaq losing the most, down 48.60% and 20.80% respectively.

Influencer of the Day - DappRadar: GameFi and metaverse projects are least affected by the Terra incident

On August 1, DappRadar released a report that analyzed the impact of the Terra incident on the crypto industry and found that the GameFi and metaverse projects were least affected by the Terra incident.

The report said that since the Terra incident, the GameFi transaction has bucked the market trend and increased by 9.51% since the first quarter. The transaction volume and number of transactions of NFT projects related to metaverse increased by 97% and 27% respectively. Investment in GameFi and metaverse projects remained at $2.5 billion in the first and second quarters.

In addition, since the Terra incident, the overall blockchain activity has remained at a relative level. The overall trading volume has decreased by 1% since the first quarter, while the transactions related to DeFi have decreased by 15% since May. Since the first quarter, the overall average volume of daily UAW (unique active wallet) has decreased by 12%.

Although NFT trading volume and number of transactions decreased by one third compared with the first quarter, North America, Oceania and parts of Europe still have high interest in NFT.

Among them, Axie Infinity is the NFT project with the highest search volume in 112 countries / regions.
