As with any rising craze - everyone wants a taste. As a result, people are flocking to both centralised and decentralised NFT marketplaces, placing extortionately high bids, fighting amidst auctions, and claiming ownership of entirely unique non-fungible tokens. Whether they are stowing them away in a wallet or flaunting their NFT to the world, millions of individuals across the world have now bought into the NFT hype.

Getting Started

In order to delve into the NFT marketplace here at Gate.io, you will first require a verified account. Creating an account is simple! All you need to do is input your name, email address, and create a password for your account. After this, you will have the option to submit personal documents for KYC screening, which will then verify your account and unlock unlimited potential across our platform!

After creating an account, you will be located to a homepage dashboard, that will look like this:


From this, you will want to head over the ‘NFT BOX’ field, whereby a simple move of your cursor will bring about a dropdown menu listing a vast roster of options.


From here, you will want to select the ‘NFT Markets’ section to unveil the flourishing NFT market available here on Gate.io. Whether it be Bored Yacht Ape Club, mystery boxes, Meta Dogs, or any other coveted range of NFTs - there is an endless pool of assets to catch your eye.

Likely after several minutes of scrolling through the page, with various pieces catching your eye, you may decide to purchase an NFT, but are unable to locate it. To simply mitigate this issue, as you scroll through the NFT market hub, you can click the outlined heart in the right corner of each widget to ‘like’ the NFT. ‘Liking’ the NFT will store the NFT in a tab titled ‘My Favourites’, which you can access at any time to unveil the collection of NFTs that truly tickled your fancy.

You will also have the option next to the outlined heart to ‘Add to collection’, from here you can create boards of NFTs that you like and title them. Say you love NFTs of dogs, you can create a collection of dog NFTs you like, even if you haven’t purchased them!

Now that you have done this, you’re probably ready to start buying!

How To Buy An NFT

In order to purchase an NFT, locate one that has a sale price within the widget, as this denotes that it is readily available and amidst an auction. Typically, you will be presented with two selections, one being ‘offer’ and the other ‘purchase’. By placing an offer, you are able to potentially offer less than the sale price, which in the event others do not bid higher, the seller can choose to sell the NFT to you. This essentially means you can walk away with a great deal! However, placing an offer is typically most applicable in the event you’re in a bidding war with other traders, whereby each of you are vying for ownership, but the highest bid wins.

Alternatively, you can select the ‘purchase’ option. If bidding wars aren’t your style or the NFT appears to be at a reasonable price for your budget, you can simply purchase the NFT at the asking price and have it simply deposited into your collection of NFTs.

In order to access your collection of NFTs, head back over to the ‘NFT BOX’ section and select ‘My Assets’. From here, you will have access to a full suite of features, including:


Each of these will relocate you to a different section of your wallet. Whether you want to take a look at your prized possessions, the collections of NFTs you’ve created, or your purchase history - the ‘My Assets’ section has it all.

How To Buy With No Sale Price

If you haven’t already, you’ll probably soon encounter an NFT that you love, but there isn’t any sale price visible. This means that the owner of this NFT has not listed this asset and has no current intentions of selling. It’s human nature, we want something we can’t have. But what if you could have it?

Luckily, there is a way for you to potentially bag your dream NFT and walk away beaming!

Upon clicking on the widget of the NFT that you like, you will be presented with a ‘Offer’ tab.


From here, you will then have the option to input your desired offer and the duration in which it will be readily available, in the event the holder changes their mind. The holder of the NFT can then choose to either accept or reject the offer.

Rejecting the offer means that your chances of owning the NFT are dashed and that they are truly abstaining from selling. However, if they accept the offer, then this transaction will be automatically executed and you can expect to see this NFT in the ‘My Assets’ section imminently.

How To Sell

We’ve all been there, we’ve purchased an NFT that seemed cool at the time, but now it just isn’t our thing. Luckily, it isn’t like a tangible item with a limited return policy. NFTs can be bought and sold anytime, and selling NFTs is a seamless operation using Gate.io.

In order to sell your NFT, head over to the ‘My Assets’ tab and click on the ‘Sell’ button. From here you can either choose to have the asset up for auction or to have it simply bought outright for a standardised and immovable price. When you select an auction you will have the ability to set a floor price. With both modes of purchasing, you can choose the asset in which it is to be exchanged for, how long teh sales event will last, and the price you choose to sell it at.
