To reduce users' transaction fees, and maintain its competitiveness against other exchanges, Gate.io has introduced Timed POINTS and a GT Buy-Back scheme (more details at https://www.gate.io/article/17639). Investors can now buy Timed POINTS in order to lower their trading fees. Gate.io continues to dominate in terms of transaction fees amongst mainstream exchanges (check out more details at https://www.gate.io/article/17501).

Previous POINTS can now be converted into Timed POINTS on a 1:1 ratio, before September 2020. From September 1st, 2020, Timed POINTS will be used for Spot and Futures fee payments, at the most competitive rates. After the conversion, when using Timed POINTS for Spots and Futures fees, VIP discounts cannot be stacked. (The conversion has to be conducted before September 1st; after September 1st, 2020, if users want to use their remaining Previous POINTS for spots and futures, they can only use them for buying Timed POINTS.

How to Convert Previous POINTS to Timed POINTS

1.Go to POINTS Management (https://www.gate.io/login) (Account Management-->>My Account-->>POINTS Management); unlock the frozen POINTS that are under the 'to be received state'

2. Click 'POINTS Upgrade'

3. Click 'Confirm to Upgrade'

4. Enter the password and verification code, and the Previous POINTS will be successfully upgraded to Timed POINTS; by this point, the 'POINTS Upgrade' will be transformed to 'Successfully Upgraded'

From September 2020, Gate.io will include GT’s liquidity into a professional market-maker assessment standard, facilitating institutions to promote GT’s liquidity. Additionally, from September 2020, all the POINTS spent on handling fee payments (Timed POINTS, Previous POINTS, and Timed POINTS swapped from Previous POINTS) will be added to the platform’s income calculated in accordance with a fair market price and the average cost price of new POINTS (currently calculated as a 70%-off discount). They will be used for a GT buy-back and burn.

We encourage users to use GT as handling fees payment in order to dramatically lower the trading costs under a non-bulk-buying condition. Users can enjoy the lowest fee rate when paying their transaction fees with GT, no collateral required.
