The 2022 FIFA World Cup hosted by Qatar is the twenty-second FIFA World Cup competition, the first to be held in Qatar, a middle eastern country, and the second to be held in Asia. In addition, it's the first World Cup to be held during the northern hemisphere's winter months and by a country that has never competed before.
