THORChain is a cross-chain protocol based on Cosmos. It supports non-native crypto asset transactions, making any cryptocurrency liquid. For example, it converts ETH into BTC through complete decentralization. From the perspective of underlying logic, THORChain is easily reminiscent of Coinbase - it can provide many services similar to Coinbase, but no third party controls the funds.
Moreover, the Coinbase protocol also supports DEX with the same name. Coinbase DEX also has the features of Uniswap and SushiSwap. All its users can trade or lend crypto assets by providing liquidity to the asset pool, so as to obtain certain benefits.
THORChain aims to decentralize cryptocurrency liquidity through public THORNode and ecosystem product networks. Any individual, product or institution can access its native and cross-chain liquidity.
How does THORChain Work?
THORChain adopts Bancor's solution to encourage users to continuously provide liquidity and promote transactions. All assets used for trading will be stored in the liquidity pool and shared with the native token of THORChain —— Rune.
Rune tokens are exchanged with other assets in any transaction. During the exchange process from asset A to asset B, the agreement will be processed in two steps: first, asset A will be exchanged into RUNE tokens, and then the RUNE tokens will be converted into asset B. In this way, cross-chain decentralized asset exchange can be realized without trusteeship.
What is RUNE？
RUNE is the token of THORChain (the total circulation of RUNE is 1 billion). It plays an important and key role in the THORChain ecosystem, and is an indispensable link.
RUNE is a settlement currency that allows assets to be exchanged across liquidity pools without diluting liquidity. RUNE is bound to each asset in a ratio of 1:1. RUNE is bound by the THORNode operator running the network. RUNE is collateralized at a ratio of 2:1 to underwrite the assets on the network, which ensures liquidity security.
RUNE is issued from each block (block reward) and paid to liquidity providers and node operators to encourage their participation and increase the fee income from transactions. The corresponding rewards will change constantly to ensure the best network security of 67% and 33% of the secure networks.
RUNE Crypto Wallet
In addition to placing RUNE in the Gate.io exchange to facilitate trading, RUNE can also be placed in the crypto wallet.
THORChain currently has two network systems: XDEFI Wallet and THORWallet DEX. XDEFI Wallet was incubated by THORChain in August 2020. It supports six blockchain networks, including Ethereum, Bitcoin and BSC. Meanwhile, it also integrates more Layer 1, such as Cosmos, Terra and Polkadot.
THORWallet DEX is an unmanaged wallet with cross-chain DEX integration, which allows users to transfer assets on different native blockchains, including BTC, ETH, LTC and BUSD. In addition, this application also includes the "earnings" function, which provides options such as liquidity services or investment in multi-chain asset accounts.
There are two schools of thought in determining the price of Rune.
By way of intrinsic value: This typically involves on-chain metrics, project metrics and financial metrics of Rune, collectively known as fundamental analysis. The law of supply and demand, tokenomics, use case, project roadmap as well as regulations and governance involved would affect the value of Rune from a long term perspective.
By way of price action: Primarily analyzed via candlestick chart patterns and technical indicators such as MACD, RSI and the bollinger bands, technical analysis forecasts the price of Rune on the basis that history tends to repeat itself. As the candlestick charts are a general representation of the emotion of the market, news announcements and community sentiment can be significant price action drivers for Rune as well.
HODLers tend to prefer the long term nature of fundamental analysis, whereas short term traders tend to rely on technical analysis more. In reality, both analyses may combine and create interesting scenarios for Rune and the cryptocurrency market as a whole.
