Recently, we have received feedback from several users that they have received spoofing emails sent by the Gate.io official email address, [email protected].
Email Spoofing is the creation of email messages with a forged sender address. ( Please note that this is very easy to do. If you need to learn more about spoofing, please read more here Email_spoofing). These people will use the excuse of a completed project audit, listing fees, or further communication to forward users to a TG group with fake Gate people, and create an agreement. Send it signed and then ask for a “deposit” normally in BTC. Senders send the funds and then they disappear.
How to prevent email spoofing?
Since the forged email address is the same as the official address, it is difficult for users to distinguish. Gate.io hereby clarifies again: [email protected] is our official email address, but this does not mean that all emails from this address are sent by Gate.io, as it is very easy to forge an email address. Therefore, when you are verifying that the email is from an official source, please pay attention to the following details:
1. Do not use the sender's address as the only basis for verifying the authenticity of an email.
2. Do not follow the scammer's instructions to communicate in ways other than email. If you receive an email claiming to be from Gate.io, the correct way to verify is to reply to the email and communicate with the sender via email.
3. Gate.io will not send emails to charge listing fees or any other fees!
