Scenario One: Best Standard Fee for New Users
Among the major exchanges we compared, Gate.io is the only platform using POINTs and simultaneously accepts 10% off for new users. New users can buy POINTs with up to 72.7% off in markets, which brings a final discounted fee of 0.049%, the lowest among the platforms we compared. The fee only accounts for 24.5% of H**bi, 49% of O**x and 61% of B**ce.
Please note that “new users” refers to newly registered users who have not made any transactions and do not have any exchange tokens.

For example, Mary is a first-time crypto trading user who has not made any transactions and does not have any exchange tokens. Scenario Two: Best Fee for VIP Users
We have compared monthly trading volumes of 20BTC, 50BTC, 100BTC, 300BTC, 500BTC and 1,000BTC. It is found that when users apply POINTs and new user 10% discount, Gate.io has the lowest fee for VIP users with a monthly trading volume of 1,000BTC and below, among the exchanges we looked into. Moreover, the lowest Maker fee of Gate.io is 0.028% and the lowest Taker fee goes to 0.031%.

Those two fees are far lower than other major platforms.

We have compared the trading volume of four typical professional users. It is found that Gate.io has an advantage as fees are concerned for professional users over all exchanges we looked into, except for the trading volume 10,000BTC where O**x has a better fee. The fee is lower when using GT to pay for Makers; for Takers, using POINTs and 10% off new user discount can acquire a fee, the lowest being 0.016%.

He can use GT to pay fees to acquire a Maker fee of -0.005% to -0.01%. He can also use POINTs and new user discount simultaneously to acquire the lowest 0.016% Taker fee. Ideally, Bob can earn rewards of fees between 4BTC to 15BTC by MM on Gate.io.

1. What are Makers and Takers?
A Maker refers to someone who “makes” orders by placing orders with specific information (i.e. name of the asset, amount, and price) of the asset to be traded. These orders will be displayed on the order book and wait for others to fill them, providing price references for the entire market.
A Taker refers to someone who “takes” orders by placing orders that match with the orders that already exist on the order book. Takers place orders based on the price of the order from the order book so that the orders can be instantly filled.
The ideas of “taker” and “maker” are different from “buyers” and “sellers”. Makers are traders who create liquidity on the order book by increasing the number of orders, while takers are traders who take away the orders, decreasing the liquidity.
Both takers and makers need to pay handling fees when trading.
