As a Layer 2 expansion network of Ethereum, Arbitrum is fully compatible with the EVM（Ethereum Virtual Machine） for which is developed by Offchain Labs and uses Optimistic Rollups technology to improve the scalability, speed, and privacy of on-chain contracts.
