The FIL (IOU) tokens, FIL6month, traded on Gate.io were transferred in by willing users of Renrenico in 2017, which has the shortest vesting period among all the FIL tokens publicly offered to investors by IPFS. According to IPFS Filecoin official, Filecoin mainnet is going to launch at block Epoch 148888, around October 15th, 2020. For example, FIL (IOU) at Gate.io will be released at a rate of 0.55% per day after the mainnet launches, and fully released in 180 days. Currently, it is yet unknown from which block height the release should start , which will impact the FIL (IOU) release rate as a whole. Gate.io will release the most possible FIL coin according to the IPFS team’s instruction based on actual condition later. One practice to implement the release is to change the current FIL (IOU) to FIL6 and list FIL at Gate.io when FIL mainnet goes live; then Gate.io will swap FIL6 to FIL regularly based on the released portion.
